Giving Day 2026: Donor support drives excellence in Huskie student-athletes
For Sept. 9 only, each donation to USask will be matched up to $1,000 per gift while matching funds last.
By Sarah TrefiakAs Giving Day 2026 approaches, we asked three USask Huskie student-athletes about how donor support has shaped their experience and provided them with the skills and encouragement needed to thrive on and off the field.
Nammi Nguyen, Huskie Women’s Soccer
“Scholarship support has allowed me to fully focus on excelling both academically and athletically. It removes financial pressure so I can commit my energy to training, studying, and representing Huskie Athletics at my best. Every dollar truly makes a difference. Huskie athletes feel the impact of donor support every single day, and we’re deeply grateful for those who choose to invest in our success.”
Taryn Hannah, Huskie Women’s Volleyball
“Donor support has allowed me to focus fully on school, volleyball, and making the most of my time as a Huskie. After graduation, I hope to build a career that feels meaningful to me and carry forward the confidence, discipline, leadership, and resilience that sport has helped build in me. Receiving this support motivates me to give back in the future because I know how much it means to have people believe in you and invest in your potential.”
Reuben Veith, Huskie Men's Volleyball
“My scholarship opportunity has allowed me to put full effort into my academic and athletic passions. Most importantly for me, I was able to put more into housing that would otherwise be impossible. This allowed me to set up a safe, clean place with trusted roommates, giving me a space that allows me to excel.
“Receiving support from the university has had an ancillary benefit in that I have a developed a deep pride in the institution and province that I grew up in. Because of this I feel more willing and dedicated in representing the University of Saskatchewan by giving back to younger students on the path to university. So far, I have taken an athletics approach by volunteering to help out in our Huskie Homeroom initiative, to represent the Huskie brand and inspire young athletes who are on the U SPORTS path.”
