‘Humbled, excited and ready to serve:’ Tracy Muggli appointed to senate

A longtime health and social services advocate, USask graduate Tracy Muggli (BA’86) is now the sixth current Saskatchewan appointee to the Canadian Senate

Tracy Muggli’s career has taken her from the front lines of social services and child welfare work in Saskatchewan to university classrooms to top hospital leadership roles.

So when Muggli heads to Ottawa next month to begin her work as Saskatchewan’s newest appointee to the Canadian Senate, she’s bringing “a very long list” of priorities to tackle in parliament.

“It would be great to pursue more research and innovative advancements in healthcare,” Muggli said. “And I also have an interest in post-secondary education and how that is evolving. We have a rich academic community in Saskatchewan, and it would be great to see that advanced.”

On Saturday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Muggli, along with Charles Adler for Manitoba, would be joining parliament’s Upper House as independent senators.
